What to wear

Attire

The wedding is formal.

Suits or tuxedos, and floor-length or dressy cocktail-length dresses. It is a garden ceremony in December on the Caribbean coast, so lighter fabrics will be comfortable.

Please take the dress code to heart. This is a formal occasion, and we would much rather welcome you in than have an awkward conversation at the garden gate. If you aren't sure an outfit works, ask us ahead of time.

We also ask that you leave two colors to the wedding party.

Please no white. It's reserved for the bride.

Please no maroon. It's what the bridesmaids are wearing.

How we got here

Our story

Photo to come
Photo to come

When Martin and Pam first met at a mutual friend's birthday party (Josh, Martin's Notre Dame friend and Pam's childhood friend), they never expected to cross paths again two years later, when Emily, now a bridesmaid, invited them both to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. That evening they chatted, laughed, and salsa-danced their way into a connection that quickly became a relationship.

Another two years later, after countless drives to Queens, many Metro-North trips to Connecticut, and more Chinese hotpot dinners than they can count, Martin and Pamela were engaged. Now living in Pittsburgh, with family and friends spread across the country, they felt the best way to honor that 2023 Cinco de Mayo night was to celebrate their wedding in Mexico.

Questions

When should I arrive?

At least one day before the wedding, so by Friday, December 10. The resort has a three-night minimum, and most of our rooms are held from December 7 to 13.

Should I stay at the resort?

Guests should stay at Dreams Playa Mujeres. If for some reason this isn't workable for you, please contact us to discuss.

Are kids invited?

Yes. Dreams Playa Mujeres is family-friendly, with a water park and family suites that sleep up to eight.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, everyone traveling needs a valid passport, including children. It should not expire within six months after your trip, or the airline can deny boarding. Applications can take months, so start early.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Once your reservation is made you'll receive a reservation number and can make payments whenever you like, as long as the balance is paid by August 1, 2027.

What if I need to cancel?

Your initial deposit is non-refundable. Cancel before the final payment date and the deposit is all you lose. After that date, refunds depend on the travel insurance you bought; without insurance the reservation is non-refundable. Vibe Thrive Travel can walk you through the insurance options.

Can I use US dollars?

Yes. Food and drinks are covered by the all-inclusive stay. Bring small bills, ones and fives, to tip bartenders and servers.

What should I wear?

Formal attire for the wedding, with no white and no maroon. Please respect the occasion and dress the part; we don't want to have to turn anyone away at the ceremony. If you're unsure about an outfit, ask us first. Pool wear and a coverup are perfect for Sunday's brunch.

Will the Chiweenie be there?

Regretfully, the Chiweenie will be unable to make the international travel, but she sends you all her wishes.

With gratitude

Gifts

Please hear us: we are not expecting gifts.

You are traveling all the way to Mexico to celebrate with us. That is the gift, and it is more than enough. We mean it. Nothing else is needed or expected.

We also know that for a few of you, this will fall on deaf ears no matter how many times we say it. For you, and only for you, we've set up a honeymoon fund.
